A System Administrator ensures an organization's IT infrastructure—servers, networks, and computers—is stable, secure, and efficient. They handle installing hardware/software, managing user accounts, performing system backups, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting issues. They are the backbone of IT operations, often managing both on-premises and cloud systems. Responsibilities and Daily Work: • System Maintenance & Upgrades: Installing, configuring, and updating operating systems (Windows/Linux) and applications to ensure peak performance. • Network Administration: Managing servers, firewalls, and network infrastructure to maintain secure, high-speed connectivity • Security Management: Implementing cyber security best practices, patching vulnerabilities, and managing firewalls to protect data. Skills Needed: • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of operating systems (Linux, Windows Server), networking protocols, and cloud services (e.g., Azure). • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose complex system errors. • Certifications: Common certifications include Comp TIA A+, Network+, Security+, and Certified System Administrator (CSA)
